The compressor is the heart of an air conditioner, and when it stops working, your entire cooling unit won’t function anymore. A compressor is like a human heart but in an HVAC cooling unit. It does all the necessary works to run the whole system.

An air conditioner is an integral part of any home or office, and when the compressor of the cooling system stops working, it affects the people using that particular air conditioner. Before your compressor stops working, you need to look at some important signs that tell you that the compressor may stop functioning at any time of the day. In this article, I’ll talk about those compressor failure signs and how to repair them in Dallas.

4 Alarming Signs of AC Compressor Failure

1.      Abnormal Noise

Any abnormal noise coming out of your electrical machine is a bad indication. It indicates there’s a problem with that machine. It’s the same for your air conditioner. If you hear any abnormal noise coming out of the cooling HVAC unit that you’ve never heard before, chances are your HVAC system’s compressor isn’t functioning efficiently and may have a problem inside. This can happen because of wear and tear in the electrical parts of the cooling HVAC system, or the motor of the fan has become dislodged.

2.      Frequent Circuit Break

The circuit breaker is an automatic electric switch that is designed to save the electrical components of the house and office when there’s an overflow of electricity. When the circuit breaker detects the overflow of electricity, it disrupts the electrical flow to the electrical components. As a result, all the electrical components of your house and office stay safe from current overflow.

If you notice that your compressor is losing power regularly and your circuit breaker is tripping, there may be a problem in your compressor because your compressor may be consuming more energy and heating up more frequently. As a result, your circuit breaker is tripping.

3.      Compressor Clutch Stops Moving

This is another sign of a problematic air conditioner compressor. The clutch on the compressor of the air conditioner let on the pulley gear to engage or disengage from the compressor power. As a result, the compressor turns on when it’s needed. But the clutch can be stuck in one place, and because of that, the compressor will keep running all day long. Also, the clutch on the compressor of the air conditioner can break, and as a result, the compressor will stop working.

4.      Air Conditioner Stops Blowing Cold Air

This is one of the few signs that you’ll notice in the very beginning. You won’t get proper cooling from your air conditioner when the compressor isn’t working, and sometimes you may feel warm air coming out of the HVAC system. However, warm air can come out because of the refrigerant leak.

When the refrigerant level is low, your cooling HVAC unit won’t be able to provide the desired cooling. Also, when the refrigerant level is low, your compressor will feel the strain, and gradually it’ll lose its power.

Now, I’ll tell you how to repair it when you notice these signs in your cooling HVAC unit.

Ways to Repair the AC Compressor in Dallas

When you hear noise coming out of your cooling HVAC unit, you should call an HVAC professional to look after the problem, or you can do it by yourself. However, if you’re not an expert in handling an HVAC system, you shouldn’t try to fix the HVAC system by yourself because it can get worse.

Again, when you have a refrigerant leak in your air conditioner, you should also consult an HVAC professional as soon as possible. Refrigerant can be very harmful to health when you’re in contact with it. Also, it can damage your HVAC system. That’s why you shouldn’t neglect it when you have this problem.

As I mentioned earlier, the compressor of the air conditioner is the heart of the HVAC system, and if you find that there is a problem with the compressor clutch, you should fix it as soon as possible. When there is a problem with the compressor clutch, it’s better to replace the whole compressor rather than the compressor clutch because it’s an efficient way of repairing it.
