We sometimes take it for granted – no matter how old it is, whether it needs any AC servicing or not. There are several signs and indications that tell you whether your HVAC components need replacing or upgrading. Signs like noise, excessive heating bills, etc. Now, we will look at those signs to determine when your air conditioner or heat pump needs an upgrade:

Old is not always Gold:

You may have heard about this proverb “Old is Gold”. But for an HVAC system, it is not always true. Age is just not a number in terms of an HVAC system. Generally, an HVAC system should be replaced after 10-15 years, depending on the condition of your system.

But most of the time, it is recommended that you should replace or upgrade your HVAC system within 10 years. Because after a decade or so, your HVAC system will only perform as good as it’s age. As it gets older, it’s performance will slowly dropdown. So, if you thought of buying an old HVAC system for your house or factory, you should think twice before making the purchase.

The older the system, the more problems you’ll face. An upgrade or replacement can improve the performance of your system. Also, it can save you a lot of money.

We all know, technology is getting better day by day and HVAC companies are adding new features daily to their HVAC equipment. By replacing it with a new one, you can expect a better performance than the old one.

Noise:

Hearing weird noises from any kind of machine is a warning for the users. So, if you are hearing awkward noises from your air conditioner or heating system that you never heard before, then your system is not running efficiently. In this case, you will have to repair your system or upgrade it. To know what is best for you, you can call a professional HVAC technician to know which will be the best for you, whether repairing or upgrading.

Energy Bill Increase:

If you have noticed that your energy bills are increasing significantly; you may have a problem in your air conditioning or heat pump system and should upgrade it. Because when the system is working perfectly, it uses less energy but when it doesn’t, it uses more energy to handle the load. By replacing the old system, you can have more energy-efficient air conditioner or heat pump units. This will save you a lot of money.

Humidity Problems:

Obsolete gears and defective ductwork can make the air excessively dry in the winter or excessively muggy in the summer.

An upgrade can solve this humidity problem. It can also preserve materials like wood, furniture, etc. of your house and office.

Outdated Thermostat:

Typically a thermostat lasts around 10 years. But after that, it starts showing signs of aging. It is because of wiring issues, dust, rusting, normal wear and tear, etc. As technology is improving, you wish to have a modern house. If you have to stay out of home for a long period and you don’t have a programmable thermostat, you can consider installing one. It will give you a modern house feeling and also enhance the performance of your air conditioning and heat pump units.

Variation in Rooms Comfort:

If you have started noticing that, some of your rooms are not as comfortable as other rooms, or warmer/colder than the others, then you should upgrade your system. This is happening because your system is not working efficiently.
