Not so long ago, air conditioners were luxury household addition in most of the American’s houses. But time has changed, and air conditioners have become an integral part of every family and office.

An air conditioner is more than a cooling unit. It provides you comfort in extreme weather and keeps you safe from the harsh environment. Also, in some cases, it prevents spreading of specific diseases. In this article, I’ll talk about some of the health benefits of using an air conditioner other than the obvious air conditioning comfort.

5 Health Benefits of an AC

1.    Reduces the Possibility of Asthma Attacks

Air conditioner reduces the possibility of asthma attacks, shocker! I know. But it’s true. When you turn on your air conditioner, the humidity of your space starts to drop. Also, your air conditioner starts dropping the amount of mold, pollen, outdoor allergens from your space. Besides, an AC can lower your exposure to the harmful outdoor allergens.

An air conditioner prevents asthma because it has an air filter in it. The main function of an air filter is to block all the small particles and allergens from outside to enter your house or space. That’s why an air filter gets dirty in no time. If you have an asthma problem, you should clean the carpet of your house quite often and avoid getting in touch with pets. Also, try to change the air filter regularly. An ideal time to change an air filter is between 80 to 90 days. Based on the place and city you live, this replacement period can vary, but it’s better to change it every three months because the air filter is the main part that blocks all those allergens and pollens.

2.    Fewer Parasites in Your Space

An air conditioner is a great way to keep all the bugs and insects from your house. It filters out all the bugs from your house and keeps your house clean. To stay healthy, you need to stay away from insects and bugs. Sometimes these small bugs and insects can cause you diseases, and sometimes they’re lethal.

3.    Removes Bacteria from the Air

When you turn on your air conditioner, it starts to lower the humidity of your house. When the humidity drops down, it gets very difficult for bacteria to stay alive. Humid conditions are best for bacteria and living micro-organisms to grow. But an air conditioner doesn’t allow this thing to happen anymore. As a result, when the humidity level starts to drop, all the bacteria and micro-organism starts to die. That’s how an air conditioner prevents all the bacteria from entering your body and your house.

4.    Reduces Dehydration

We lose water when we sweat. An average person loses a few liters of water during exercise and regular activities on a hot summer day. On average, you’ll lose 1 liter of fluid from your body in 1 hour exercise. But when the temperature is cold, it means less sweating. Less sweating means you’ll lose less water in the process. It’s important to stay hydrated in our daily life.

When you turn on your air conditioner, the environment starts to cool down. As a result, in a harsh environment, you’ll feel relaxed, and you’ll sweat less. This’ll automatically reduce the dehydration of your body, and you’ll stay healthy.

5.    Reduces the Possibility of Heat Stroke

Heatstroke is a health condition where people have a stroke due to the heat. Heatstroke has now become a common thing in the US. Many people are suffers from heatstroke during the summer. Heatstroke generally happens in extremely hot weather. As the temperature is rising every day, there’ll be more and more patients who will suffer from heatstroke. But an air conditioner reduces this risk of having a heat stroke. An air conditioner not only fights against the heatstroke but also other heat-related problems. An air conditioner can become your best friend in those situations where the temperature is high, and you’re in the possibility of having a heat stroke.

These are the few health benefits of an air conditioner. Apart from these benefits, an air conditioner also allows you to have a sound sleep, which is very beneficial for your health and mind. A sound sleep will always help you to stay healthy in this fast-paced world.

It’s fascinating that you mention that air conditioning can help lower the humidity inside your home. My house gets almost unbearably humid in the summertime, so I would like to have an air conditioning system installed in it this March. I’m going to see if there’s a good business in my area that can install an air conditioning system for me.
