The First Company 24HX6 is the indoor half of a split-system setup, built for spaces where a standard upright air handler won’t fit. It sits above a dropped ceiling, inside a fur-down, or in any overhead cavity where you need a horizontal recessed ceiling fan coil that stays out of the room entirely. At just 10 inches high, 37.25 inches wide, and 21 inches deep, this unit fits the standard HX series chassis footprint — so if you’re replacing an older HX unit, it drops into the existing rough opening without modification.

This 2-ton uncased air handler delivers 24,000 BTU of cooling capacity with 6 kW of factory-installed electric heat already wired in. Hook it to your outdoor AC unit or heat pump condenser, connect the refrigerant line set, tie in the 24V thermostat wiring, and it runs. No separate heat kit to source or field-wire. The 240/24V transformer comes pre-wired from the factory. With 800 CFM of airflow and an EER rating between 10.5 and 12.2, it handles spaces up to roughly 1,000 to 1,200 square feet. The 24HX6 is compatible with most split-system AC condensers and heat pumps running R-410A refrigerant.

The drain pan is sloped and insulated, which matters on any ceiling-mounted unit. If condensate doesn’t drain cleanly, it backs up into the ceiling. The sloped pan moves water to the drain on its own, and both a primary and secondary overflow drain connection are included — so if the primary line gets blocked, the secondary catches it before water reaches the ceiling tile.
